I was looking for a way to watch the cartoon series “Wander Over Yonder” and was disappointed to see the only “dvd sets” that were available were through shady bootleg sites. Thankfully, it seems to full series has actually been uploaded to the internet archive by
Craig McCracken
himself! It’s in a file format I’ve never heard of, but from what I’ve read the videos should be viewable with the VLC media player program.
They also have mp3s available if you look at the directory. Unfortunately the shorts don’t seem to be on there.
I think what tires me the most about HP criticisms now is how distracting they are. Yes, it’s good to talk about the stuff that’s aged poorly and how we’re realizing now that JKR’s writing wasn’t always the best. But do we really need a million posts harping on about how “HP is bad writing” whenever we have to discuss JKR’s transphobia? It feels so performative, like people are compulsively talking about how they think it’s bad just to make themselves seem more progressive.
But all it does is distract from the real matters at hand. Fact of the matter is, JKR could have written HP PERFECTLY and that wouldn’t change the fact that she’s a terf.
These days when joining a fandom it’s very easy to guess which characters are the popular trans headcanon for the fandom, which I am starting to find concerning.
Because it’s either the slim lanky guy or the big broad girl that gets headcannoned as trans by the majority of the community. Which simply reeks of stereotypes if it’s these specific types of body types on characters that almost always get the fandom to agree that “yes, they are trans”.
And no I am not talking about cases where there is some canon context that could suggest a character to be trans. I am talking about fans purely going by stereotypes without any context
Because why does the slim lanky guy have to be the one to be a transman? Why aren’t the majority of fans agreeing that it could be the big burly guy? Or the one with the dad bod?
And why does everyone agree that specifically the big broad girl is a transwoman? Why isn’t it the petite feminine woman that’s trans? Or how about the overweight woman?
Why is it always these 2 specific body types that fandoms always choose as their token fanon trans character and not any other body type?
